Rosie's Heart Update

We went to see the heart specialist again yesterday. It looks as though there is not just one problem, the hole in the ventrical wall, or VSD. It is very likely that Rosie also has a tetralogy of fallot, which is a bit more serious. This problem restricts oxygen flow from the heart to the lungs, causing breathing difficulties.

We have to go back again in 2 weeks for a full day of checks and tests. If they do show the TOF problem, then Rosie will need an operation to fix both the TOF and the VSD when she is about 1 year old. Not something to look forward to, but the risks for this kind of operation are slight. Fingers crossed, and I guess I will post another update ina couple of weeks.

Hello, Gary! Nice to meet you!

Rosie is so pretty! We can see in Rosie's pics that she was made with love. So she is also a very strong child. Your love for Rosie gives her courage, I think she is able to understand it when she smiles to you. She is ready to everything, so everything will be alright if you keep believing in her as you and your wife are doing now.

This is a hard situation, I see, but it's good that you discovered her problem now, so you and your wife have time to help her. An operation is always scary, but it's also a big hope. Everybody are praying for her too.

I posted in your wife's blog, I hope she is able to understand my bad english (I'm ashamed!). By the way, I prefer to see Rosie's pics than Esumi Makiko's!

Be well you both!

Rosie is blessed with her mothers good looks and a footballers stregnth. I am sure she is going to be great. Little girls have a knack of making their fathers worry. You just get yours a bit early.

God Bless.

Paul,
Mother's good looks? Everyone who sees her says that she takes after her Dad, the lucky little girl that she is! Bizarre you mention the footballer's strength - she has chunky legs that look a bit like mine..

Sorry old chap but everyone who I show Rosie's photos to over here says she looks exactly like her mom (whew, and wipe the brow), and Megumi is a hottie!!! So you are in for it!!!

The only reason she resembles you is because you have maintained your baby-face looks, on your blog you should post all three of your photos side by side and let us vote on it.

Take care.

Glad Rosie's problem can be sorted out by a relatively straightforward operation. Did I miss your e-mail or did I get forgotten??

Posted by: Trudi at April 20, 2004 12:00 AM

Sis,
We are hoping that it will be straightforward, although it is not a huge comfort.
I sent you mail on April 14th and 16th to your home email, so yes it looks like you did miss it.

I wasn't aware that cute little Rosie had a heart problem, but I am relieved to hear that it can be taken care of relatively easily. I hope she continues to do well and I wish her and the rest of your family continued happiness and health.

I've just been through this with my wife as she recently had a VSD closed. It's been three months since the operation and all is fine and dandy. We go for a final all clear next month. It was, to say the least, a very stressful time before the op though.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I am sure everything will work out fine for Rosie.

If you need any support/guidance/help/words of reassurance then drop me a line.

I have a son that was born with TOF. He is now 6 yrs old. I just wanted to drop a line of support from someone that has been through it all. It may be one of the hardest things in your life to go through, but it will be ok.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions or just want to talk to someone that has a shared experience.
