Heart Update (again)

I obviously need to come up with a good numbering system to count these updates! Anyway, we went to 2 different hospitals last week, and, bizarrely enough, had exactly the same tests at both - maybe the 2 hospitals don't trust each other?

The result is that Rosie does indeed have a tetralogy of fallot (no great surprise to us), and will need at least one operation on her heart. The timing of this is yet to be decided, but she will go into the hospital for 1 week in June for further, internal examinations. The results of this testing will determine whether she needs 1 operation or 2, and also the timing.

Rosie exhausted by all the poking around, takes a nap in her sling.

Obviously, this is all rather worrying, but talking to the doctors is strangely calming. They clearly know what they are doing, and perform this kind of surgery regularly. It is also MUCH better to know what is happening, and talk about what action to take, rather than to be in the dark, just feeling helpless.

Overseas travel is ruled out for a while, and we have to be careful to try and prevent Rosie catching colds or infections. Other than than, she is quite normal and contented. She laughs and smiles a lot, and puts anything and everything she can get her hands on in her mouth. Not sure how she decides what things pass the Rosie taste test, but most of her toys seem to be tasty enough to slobber all over on a regular basis. She is looking forward to slobbering all over one of her sets of granparents, who arrive from England tomorrow!
