You may recall that my cousin, Matt Read, was in a pretty horrific motorbike accident last year. He stopped breathing, and his life was basically saved by some very quick-thinking medical folk. He had severe back and neck problems, as well as a punctured lung. He was allowed to go back to the UK at the end of the year (the accident was in France), and he is now out of the hospital, and continuing his recovery from home.
Matt is still in a wheelchair, but he is able to get up and walk about for short periods. He and his fiancee Claire postponed their wedding plans, but have now set a date for the end of July, just about the time that Rosie's little brother or sister is due to emerge.

This picture is of Matt and Claire dancing at a recent event that was held to raise money for the two of them.
Posted by Gary at March 24, 2005 11:06 AMFor obvious reasons, your blog reduces me to tears frequently. Sometimes I'm prepared but others I definitely am not. The first, your posting on Charlotte, touched a nerve during office hours whilst 'Matt Read Recovery Continues' hits late on a monday (bank holiday!). I saw Matt yesterday and was astounded at the pace he is moving around - he is almost 'Speedy Ready' again (all bar a few hairy moments - which really is a little worrying!).
Your cerebral and acerbic comments on worldwide, everyday events don't even come close to your personal touch. But hey, that's 'cos I know you (and yours) and I love you!! (yes, I know, it is Sis)
Thinking of you all often - Megumi, you look gorgeous as always!!

Posted by: Trudi at March 29, 2005 08:37 AMMy girlfriend and I found your website by accident and have read it through to the end. How moved we were by the experienced you and Megumi had to deal with over Rosie. Imagine our excitement when we logged in the other day and discovered you were going to be parents again - hearty congratulations.
Also, we are so plesaed at the recovery of your cousin, Matt Read. What an amazing recovery that guy has made. Here's hoping he recovers well enough to achieve his ambition of walking down the aisle. Pass on our best to him. Again, we have followed his progress closely through speedway links.
Strangers are not strangers when you communicate by computer.
Regards.
