Spring Again

Here are some flowers from our garden. Pint to the first person who can correctly name what type of flowers they are...

Mark, your botanical knowledge rivals my own. I'm impressed.
Guy, I checked with our garden architect, Mrs G, and she assures me that they are not hyacinths. Try again.

I'm thirsty and need to check my latin so here goes again (with apologies to Mrs G). I maintain they're g r a p e hyacinths (your filtering software forces me to put spaces between the first word!). Latin name is muscari armeniacum. They look pretty much like these http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/4092/. Some scary stuff about them at http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/h/hyagra42.html. For an educational source try http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/factsheets/bulbs-spring/Muscaar.htm. And if all this fails to convince then I'll have to get my mother involved. She used to grow them in vast quantitiies when I was a mere whippersnapper. Any chance of that pint now?

Guy,
Apologies. I didn't do my homework. Mrs G assured me they are called Muscari. Looking at your links, it looks as though the common name of Muscari is indeed, gr-ape hyacinth.
(as you said, gr-ape is being blocked because it contains the word r-ape. weird.)
Pint is on me - interested in going to the Tokyo bloggers meetup thing next week where I can pay up?
