Rosie's 2nd Birthday

Tomorrow would have been Rosie's 2nd birthday. I often think about her, and wonder what she would have looked like, how she would have talked...

The events of the last year or so have been extremely difficult and painful for me and Megumi, and for our families. We have had many hard days...
But I would prefer to be thankful for the joy we have, rather than think about what might have been. We were given 8 precious months with Rosie, and we loved her very much. I think I can safely say that she loved us very much too.

We were then given another precious gift, a little ball of smiles and fun we decided to call Angelie. She inherited her sister's smile, and seems to have the power and strength of two babies. We'll do our best to take care of her, and when she is old enough, we'll tell her all about her big sister.

Rosie, darling, we'll never forget you.

I came across your blog by accident yesterday and left a comment about how beautiful your daughter is. After checking back in today and reading the post about Rosie, I decided to read your archives, and it had tears rolling down my cheeks. You and your wife have obviously been through a lot this year, but it really shines through in your posts just how much you support each other. I cannot imagine how painful it is to lose a child, but please know that Rosie's story is touching to even a complete stranger who read your blog. She was clearly very loved.

A heart of gold stopped beating,
Two shining eyes at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove,
He only takes the best,
God knows you had to leave us,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day he took you home.

I too was touched by Rosie and your love for her.
It's so amazing how so many people can be touched by a small child. Rosie was so lucky to have you two to love her. In her brief time on earth she has touched more people than one person could do in a lifetime. May you always cry a tear of joy for her, that she is in a better place.

Gary and Megumi
We all lit a wee candle for your wee Rosie on the 8th, and wished for all the love and happiness in the world for you and Angelie in the next year. She is absolutely gorgeous by the way, love the pictures! Thinking of you all.
