Rosie-chan

August 20th, 2008

Today is August 20th. 4 years ago, Rosie, our first-born, passed away. I remember writing at the time that I hoped that eventually the pain would get easier to deal with. Thankfully, it has.

Many things have changed since that summer of 2004. Megumi and I have moved home, I have changed job, …oh and of course we have managed to produce 3 more lovely little girls! While I sit here pondering things, Megumi is at the temple with the girls, lighting a candle for Rosie, or ‘Ro-ji’, as the twins say. Angelie understands that she had a big sister, but struggles with understanding that the small baby we have pictures of was actually her big sister. I’m sure she’ll get it eventually.

Outdoor Pool

July 28th, 2008

I always wanted a house with a big garden and a pool.

As you can see, all my dreams have come true!

Angelie and Lili had lots of fun on a sweaty hot day. Vivi was feeling a bit down, so was grumpy and didn’t really join in the fun (she is by the door in the 3rd picture). There will be 15 or 20 kids in these pools on Tuesday…

Frogs?

June 1st, 2008

Ask the wife. I have no idea. Can’t even attempt to explain this.
It was at a cherry-blossom party, if that helps… : )

Getting Older

June 1st, 2008

Went to the new house of our friends John and Miyuki at the weekend. There seems to be a rash of house-building and house-buying among my peers here in Tokyo and Saitama.
Given our age, and the fact that lots of people have small kids, this is of course not surprising, but all the same, it’s a far cry from my early days in ‘96 and ‘97, when the talk was more of if your pay packet would provide enough beer and ramen to get you to the end of the month!

Anyway, congrats toa ll friends with new houses, babies etc…you know who you are.

For those of you who are wondering how our little bundles of joy (!) are, photos will follow…

Getting them all out of the shop was a bit of a challenge…

Hina Matsuri

= doll’s festival.

One of the advantages of haviing a bit more space is that we can put the dolls out and still be able to move around the house.

Megumi knitted these clothes when she was in hospital last autumn. The hats look a little like skull-caps, but they are adorable anyway! Angelie was at kindergarden when this was taken. There are some pics of her somewhere as well…
